Renthal Takes Double win in SX Season Opener!
Monster Energy Kawasaki kicked off the new year with fresh faces in familiar places at Angels Stadium in Anaheim. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's newest riders Jake Weimer and Ryan Morais swept the top two podium spots in the AMA Supercross Lites class at the first round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship. Weimer earned his second career win with Morais grabbing his career best finish. Both riders were locked in a race long battle to the end along with the Geico Powersports Honda team rider Dan Reardon. The entire Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Team uses Renthal Twinwall handlebars, ultralight chainwheels and Renthal grips.
In the AMA Supercross class, the main event was a nonstop nail biter starting when Reed and Stewart collided into each other handing the lead over to Josh Grant of the JGR Toyota Yamaha Team. Grant rode well out front but collected a banner in his rear wheel with only a few laps to go. He persevered and held onto the win at the checkered flag, bike smoking and all! Ryan Villopoto won his first ever 450cc race, claiming his heat and finished his debut main event in fifth. Villopoto's Monster Energy Kawasaki teammate Timmy Ferry finished fourth. The Monster Energy Kawasaki Team and the JGR Toyota Yamaha team both use Renthal Twinwall handlebars, ultralight chainwheels and Renthal grips.
